Bagless Day in School
“ Experience is the Purest Source of Knowledge”.
The NEP (National Education Policy) advocates for schools to adopt creative, hands-on learning methods beyond traditional classroom settings, making way for "Bagless Days." This initiative provides students with unique opportunities to engage in experiential activities, spark creativity, and cultivate environmental awareness. By encouraging Bagless Day, NEP advocates for schools to explore creative teaching methods that go beyond conventional classroom routines..
New Era Public School Dwarka Organised the Bagless Day on 14th November 2024, coinciding with Children’s Day celebrations. The morning started with a special assembly on the theme -Children’s Day. Enriching and interesting activities were planned for the day to inculcate different skills in the students in line with the NEP 2020’s focus on experiential learning. These activities not only encouraged creativity and problem-solving skills but also helped students develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the world around them. By moving beyond the traditional classroom environment, students were able to engage with the curriculum in a more interactive and meaningful manner. The students of the Primary Wing had a great time preparing pasta .Cooking with their peers fostered creativity and confidence and taught them the skill to work as a team. Poster making on healthy diet and making book marks beautifully showcased their imagination and out-of-the-box thinking freely through art. Learning to tie a tie enhanced their life skills. Interhouse matches were played by the students of classes 6 to 8. Movies were shown to students on varied subjects.
The highlight of the day was an enthralling Odissi dance performance by Ms Geeta Mahalik under the aegis of SPIC MACAY which was both, informative and inspiring . It also served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating our traditional dance forms.
Bagless day in school not only provided a platform to encourage students to participate in extra-curricular activities but also an attempt was made to provide a different module of learning for better performance. The Bagless Day was a resounding success that fostered essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and self-expression. The enthusiasm and joy displayed by the students underscored the effectiveness of immersive learning and highlighted the importance of cultivating a love for learning through innovative, real-world experiences.
