National War memorial – Tribute to the ones that can never be forgotten
A visit to National War Memorial was organized by our school on 17th August 2023 for the classes 6 to 12 with the intention of inculcating a spirit of respect and patriotism for our unforgotten soldiers who sacrificed their life for our mother nation.
The National War Memorial was inaugurated in February 25, 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi near India Gate, New Delhi. It has been built as a tribute to the soldiers killed during the Indo-China War in 1962, the Indo-Pak Wars in 1947, 1965 and 1971, the Kargil Conflict in 1999, and the Indian Peace Keeping Force Operations in Sri Lanka. The Amar Jawan Jyoti merged with eternal flame of National War Memorial on 21 January 2022. The memorial has distinct scheme of concentric circles: Amar Chakra -Circle of Immortality, Veerta Chakra - Circle of Bravery, Tyag Chakra -Circle of Sacrifice and Raksha Chakra-Circle of Protection.
The students of classes 6-12 were very enthusiastic about the National war Memorial and they actively replied to the questions put forward by the officials leading our group. The leading person elaborately explained each and every carvings on the wall. It was an enriching experience not only for the students but also for the teachers accompanied them.
