READING CLUB ACTIVITY (Classes III to V)
“A Room without books is like a body without a soul”.
New Era Public School, Dwarka aims at giving a holistic development to every child. Reading clubs are a great way to engage students and help build a reading culture at school to enhance their creativity, analytical and critical skills.
Keeping this in mind, a reading club activity was conducted on 3rd May ’23 by Ms Nidhi Bhakt, an engineer by profession , but an avid reader and a storyteller by passion, with a vision to make children fall in love with reading books that will enhance their knowledge, spark their imagination and boost their confidence .
She further emphasized that the journey of reading books will be full of challenges but she will be there as their mentor to overcome these hurdles with her uniquely designed techniques to help create passion for “Reading for Life ’’.
It was an interesting and an interactive session between her and the students of classes III,IV and V .From Roald Dahl’s humorous fantasy to Enid Blyton’s adventure mystery stories, from Ruskin Bond’s stories weaved around the hills to J.K. Rowlings, a number of authors and their work were discussed with the conviction that ‘you fantasize and it will be there’.
Ms Nidhi further emphasized that its not the ones who are fond of reading but we have to motivate those young children who don’t like to read . For this she suggested reading ‘Tom Gates Is Absolutely Fantastic’ to spark off their interest in reading.
An hour well spent, the students very enthusiastically participated in the session. The young readers were quite aware of these authors, their books and the stories weaved by them, that very pleasantly surprised the guest.
The session ended with the children clapping loudly. Ms Nidhi was given a vote of thanks and she left with a promise of another such session in the very near future.
